NEOSS to hold multiple events in April and May

Apr 4, 2019 | 5:07 PM

Northeast Outreach and Support Services (NEOSS) has a new event planned for the area.

NEOSS has come up with Breakfast with the Guys that is set to be held in the Canalta Hotels in Melfort and Tisdale on April 16 and 17 respectively.

Executive Director Louise Schweitzer said the event is another chance to reach out to the men in the area and will feature a keynote speaker on how men play a crucial role in making positive changes in the lives of women and girls living with abuse.

Tuval Nafshi is with Leading Chance of the Alberta Council of Women’s Shelters and will speak on topics of domestic, gender and sexualized violence.

“It’s a way to involve our male population in the conversations that we have around domestic violence and inter-generational violence,” Schweitzer said. “Assisting them to step forward and make a difference and gain some awareness as to the challenges that are going on out there.”

Schweitzer said the event will be done around 7:45 p.m. Tickets are available by calling the NEOSS office at 306-752-9464.

Along with this event, organizers are planning the seventh annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event for Tisdale this year. It’ll be the first time the event is held in the town. The route and other details are still to be determined.
