Apr 23, 2019 | 2:47 PM

A man accused in a series of assaults on Kinistin First Nation will have his preliminary inquiry hearing this summer.

Keenan Scott appeared in Melfort Provincial Court on Tuesday, April 23, after he elected to be tried by a judge and jury in Melfort’s Court of Queen’s Bench on April 16.

Todd Parlee will serve as Scott’s defence lawyer throughout the rest of the case.

Tisdale RCMP officers were dispatched Jan. 16 after receiving a report of an intoxicated suspect going from home to home on Kinistin First Nation and committing assaults. Scott was arrested and charged with break and enter, aggravated assault, assault causing bodily harm and uttering threats.

The preliminary inquiry will take place June 24 in Tisdale Provincial Court. The hearing will determine if there is sufficient evidence to proceed with a trial.
