Melfort multi-K registration opens May 1

The ninth annual Melfort multi-k will be open for registration starting this Wednesday.

The September event features a one kilometre kids race which is free of charge, and a 5 km and a 21.1 km race as well.

Organizer Lyle Bittman said they continue the race in an effort to get people out and active.

“You can run the race, you can walk the race, you can push your kids in the stroller in the race,” Bittman said. “Just come out and participate.”

The $25 early bird registration runs from May 1 to 31.

“The prices stay the same this year and we try our very best to keep the costs low,” Bittman said. “We are by far the cheapest event for this type of race in Saskatchewan.”

With the 10th anniversary of the event coming next year, there will be the very first 10 times club according to co-organizer Allison Rogers.

“If this is your ninth year and you want to be part of that club, make sure you are registered this year and participate this year,” Rogers said.

The event is run solely on volunteers and Bittman said that they can always use more help. Register online for the race or to volunteer at melfortmultik.ca.

There are still sponsorship opportunities available as well.
