Province celebrates Parks Week

Jul 16, 2019 | 2:22 PM

Summer is a great season to step outside and take advantage of the province’s natural beauty.

Staff with the Ministry of Parks Culture and Sport hope this week, July 14 to 20, residents and visitors take the time to enjoy Parks Week.

“We can offer something to everyone know matter where you live in the province,” Manager of Visitor Experience and Public Programming Unit, Nicky McLoughlin said. “Beautiful lakes, trees, the wildlife in the area. You get a true appreciation for nature.”

The province has 35 parks.

McLoughlin explained because of Parks Week a number of the parks will have some special entertainment and events taking place.

“Makwa Lake, Meadow Lake and the Battlefords (parks) are really excited to host Roger Boucher, the magician. We’ve also got Terrance Littletent visiting Meadow Lake,” McLoughlin said. “We’ve got yoga on the beach (Candle Lake), guided hikes and several free programming events for our visitors and campers.”

She explained provincial parks are essential to providing unique experiences to people inside and outside the province.

“There’s something out there for everyone, we encourage you to have the best experience in our parks this summer,” McLoughlin told paNOW.
