Celebrating diverse cultures was the theme on Saturday at the Kerry Vickar Centre in Melfort.

Kevin Seesequasis with the Creeland Dancers said anytime communities want to experience different cultures, the group is happy to be part of that.

“Canada has always prided itself in being a multi-cultural country and it’s just great to come together and share and experience all of those cultures,” Seesequasis said.

He said for them, the event was all about being able to show their indigenous culture.

The Creeland Dancers also had the opportunity to host a workshop earlier in the day.

“Everybody in Melfort did such a great job welcoming us and really celebrating all forms of different cultures,” Seesequasis said.

The Creeland Dancers was formed nearly 40 years ago to promote culture amongst youth. The group has toured all across Saskatchewan as well as North America since it’s inception.

The event also featured several other displays and activities from numerous other cultures.

The day began with an outdoor teepee ceremony as well.
