Escape Rooms coming to Melfort

Nov 8, 2019 | 10:16 AM

Escape room games have proven to be a hit in many different areas and they are getting a shot in Melfort.

Melfort Escape Rooms is slated to open by mid-November in the front of the Melfort Tattoo Shop building at 109 Burrows Ave. West.

Coordinator Matt Reynaud said himself and his wife got the idea to bring escape rooms to Melfort after trying it out at Waskesiu over the summer.

“This one we would like to keep it long term, but honestly the public will have to vote so we have set it up so it can be long term with it built right into the building,” Reynaud said. “If people like it then we will keep doing it and changing the games to make sure it is fresh.”

The front of the building has been completely renovated to accommodate for the special rooms that are needed for the different escape games. The new business venture is brought to Melfort by Escape Prince Albert.

The games are an activity people can do as a pair, or as a group, making it a more diverse way to play in Melfort.

“It’s very versatile especially this time of year for Christmas parties, regular parties, date nights, team building with larger businesses in town that maybe want to bring staff and figure out how to work together,” Reynaud said.

He said that feedback on the announcement has been very positive and it will be exciting to get things going once the game space is entirely complete.

Bookings can be made by visiting the Melfort Escape Rooms Facebook page.

Reynaud said this also brings opportunity for a handful of jobs to the area. He is looking to hire staff including a manager, games masters, and, a couple individuals to reset the rooms after they are used.

The Escape Rooms will be open from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. so he would invite student applications as well.

Reynaud is also running a giveaway on his Facebook page for free passes to individuals who would be open to trying out the escape rooms as a trial run before they open to the general public.
