“That does open up the possibility that it can be backup in case you have landline trouble or cell only,” he said. “Which then brings into the whole mix of home automation, arming and disarming your security system from your smart phone or any device.”

Not only can a home security system protect your home from unwanted visitors, it can also warn of floods, a furnace going out, carbon monoxide detectors and more.

“For a lot of people it helps them on their home insurance,” he said. “As well, adding video cameras can be as easy as making sure the kids are at home safe from school.”
