Nipawin Chamber of Commerce set for annual president’s gala and ABEX Awards

The Nipawin and District Chamber of Commerce’s annual President’s Gala and ABEX Awards are coming up on Friday, Feb. 7.

The event was created to allow the chamber to introduce the new president, and honour some of the businesses in the community.

Lisa Suchlandt, executive director with the chamber said they always get a good turnout at the event.

“Everyone seems to come out and support the business community, which is great,” she said. “We need our businesses to know that we support them.”

This year, the chamber will be welcoming their incoming President Ben Paskaruk, as well as their updated board of directors. They’ll also hand out a handful of awards.

“It’s also important to mark the accomplishments of the businesses to make sure that everybody understands how important it is to have these businesses in our community to help us economically grow.” she said.

Award winners this year include the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 120, and Pineland Co-op which will receive the heritage awards. Twisted Tree is being awarded the retail award, the service award is going to Nipawin Dental Centre, and the Nipawin Farmers’ Market is being given the agriculture award.

Tickets for the gala are $60, and can be purchased through the chamber office. Entertainment this year will be provided by magicians Andrew Kinakin, and Karson Evanovich.
