RING THOSE PHONES

Tisdale Kin groups gearing up for Telemiracle 44

In just one month, Saskatchewan residents will be asked to ring those phones for Telemiracle 44.

As the telethon approaches, it is a very busy time for Kin clubs across the province as they prepare to make their own contributions to the Telemiracle foundation.

Throughout the month of January, the Tisdale Kinsmen and Kinettes have been able to bring in over $2,000.

Kinette and Telemiracle representative in Tisdale Terrah Casemore told northeastNOW they have had some successful fundraisers in January but in February they will push that number higher.

“We are hoping to match our total from last year which was around $13,000,” Casemore said.

Efforts in January included a perogie supper that brought in $1,000, a bowl-a-thon raised $900, and a pass the bucket at a Tisdale Trojans game raised $300.

The Kinsmen are hosting a steak dinner on Valentines Day at the Tisdale Hotel for $25 a person. Cater for a cause is on February 28, which is a soup and sandwich lunch delivered around the community for $10 each. A $7 pancake breakfast is set for the morning of March 7 at the RecPlex from 7 to 10 a.m.

The pancake breakfast is the final fundraiser for the kin groups before making the trek to Telemiracle which is being held in Regina this year.

“We have about 33 girls in the Tisdale Kinette group so we try to make it so that the ones that aren’t going to Telemiracle are the ones that work the breakfast,” Casemore said. “Of course, we do have a few die-hard members that like to come and make an appearance and then get on their way to Telemiracle.”

According to Casemore, they are sending about 14 women, and six men from the Tisdale groups to attend and lend helping hands at the annual telethon that continues to bring in funds for those in need around the province.

“We just want to thank everyone for their support every year and in the upcoming events,” Casemore said.
