Updating the public on North East SPCA at their AGM in Nipawin

Mar 4, 2020 | 2:02 PM

The North East SPCA (NESPCA) is holding their Annual General Meeting this Thursday.

The event will start at 7 p.m. at the Northern Greens Resort and Conference Centre in Nipawin. The public is invited to attend.

“It will be…presenting our reports for the year, and any new board members will be elected at that time, and just sharing how things went,” board chair Pat Shiels told northeastNOW.

Shiels said they are always looking for volunteers for anything from helping to walk dogs, to cleaning the Harry and Eve Vickar Shelter, to fundraising.

She said the shelter has been busy since it opened, and they have had to limit the number of animals to accept with the amount of staff they currently have.

The NESPCA has a ‘pet of the week’ feature on Wednesdays, where the adoption fees are 20 per cent off for some animals that have been in the shelter the longest.

You can get more information here.

The SPCA will also be holding a number of fundraisers in the coming weeks.

On April 11, they will provide lunch at the North East Outreach and Support Services (NEOSS) Wellness trade show. The SPCA will also be the supper host at the Chase the Ace event in Melfort April 23.

The SPCA annual cash calendars will soon be for sale for $10 each, while the annual spring Facebook auction and garage sale will be held in April or May. Donations are accepted for both the auction and garage sale, and you can drop them off at the shelter during office hours.

The NESPCA volunteer meeting will be held next week, and you can watch their Facebook page for a date.
