Lake Lenore Co-op getting patrons to sanitize hands, or wear gloves upon entry

The Lake Lenore Co-op has continued increasing their safety measures amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

As of the morning on Sunday, March 22, those entering the grocery store and greenhouse are asked to either sanitize their hands, or wear gloves upon entering the store. Manager Rochelle Voz said so far, it’s been received well.

“Nobody has ever said ‘no I’m not doing that,'” she said. “If they do, we will ask them to leave, we had made up our mind before that’s how it’s going to be, and that’s just our rule.”

Prior to the sanitization of hands or wearing gloves upon entering, the store had previously been sanitizing up to four times a day.

While they’re making sure people take good care of their hands upon entering the store, Voz said for now, they aren’t limiting the number of people into their store, mainly due to the fact Lake Lenore is a very small community.

“There’s never more than three people in the store at one time anyway,” Voz said. “So it’s been really good. But the business has been steady constantly over the last two weeks.”

As for some of the major items, including hand sanitizer, wipes, and toilet paper, Voz said the store is “completely out”. That is as of Wednesday but the store is expecting another shipment of items on Thursday.

Voz said they’ll continue evaluating things day by day, and she’s confident they’ll remain open for the time being.
