Ball diamonds, soccer fields and basketball courts re-opening in Melfort

Jun 22, 2020 | 8:00 AM

The City of Melfort is re-opening a number of recreational facilities Monday, June 22.

It’s all part of Phase 4.1 of the provincial government’s Re-open Saskatchewan plan.

“Our baseball diamonds, soccer fields, and basketball courts will open [on Monday],” director of development, planning and community relations Brent Lutz told northeastNOW.

He said the city will post guidelines for use of the facilities at each location, and they are asking the public to self-regulate to ensure that all provincial health guidelines are followed.

Melfort’s spray park will also open later this week.

“The spray park at the Spruce Haven recreation area will open on Wednesday, June 24,” Lutz said. “This will allow us time to do the commissioning procedures required in order to open that facility.”

The city is taking bookings from organized sports organizations for the playing fields. Teams can call 306-752-7906 to book fields or ball diamonds. All teams are required to follow the provincial guidelines for their particular sport.
