Fire at Wakaw Lake caused by unattended fire pit blaze

Wakaw/Hoodoo Fire Rescue are hoping a recent fire serves as a reminder to ensure all fire pits are extinguished before leaving them unattended.
On Sunday evening, just before 9:30 p.m. crews responded to a brush fire at Wakaw Lake caused by a fire pit that had not been properly put out.
A nearby wood pile caught fire where it eventually came extremely close to nearby structures. Fortunately, none of those structures were touched or damaged.
