Family moves into latest Habitat for Humanity build in Melfort

The latest Habitat for Humanity build in Melfort is now occupied.

A family moved in recently, and project manager Terry Thurrott told northeastNOW the project is largely complete.

“We’ve got some landscaping that we have to do and a little bit of siding,” Thurrott said. “The weather hasn’t cooperated too well for the outside work but the inside work is about 99 per cent complete and it is occupied.”

Work started on the home at 404 Burrows Ave. W. last fall. The 1,000 sq. ft. three bedroom bungalow looks good, according to Thurrott.

“It’s got a very good roadside appeal, and we’re quite happy with the way that it turned out,” Thurrott said. “I think all of the neighbours in the neighbourhood should be happy as well, it’s a great addition to the neighbourhood.”

Thurrott said the Habitat family and their friends continued to help out a lot during the project, and added they did a tremendous job.

“I like the efficiency of it. It’s again built to today’s standards, and it’s all a modest high-efficiency house. It’s economical and a great home for a young family,” Thurrott said.

The next Habitat build in Melfort has not been set yet, but Thurrott said they’re always looking for their next project.

He thanked everyone who helped out during this most recent build.
