Local communities receiving MEEP funding

The provincial government has approved another 303 projects under the Municipal Economic Enhancement Program (MEEP).

Several of the projects are taking place locally.

  • The Town of Carrot River is receiving $139,848 for Main Street revitalization.
  • Foam Lake is being funded for projects including a water treatment plant upgrade, water valve replacement, roadway improvements, playground upgrades, hall lighting improvements, municipal connectivity upgrades, and road and streetscape upgrades, to a total of $163,994.
  • Hudson Bay is undergoing recreation complex upgrades, along with purchasing a landfill dozer and completing sidewalk replacement at a cost of $206,394.
  • Kelvington is receiving $119,869 for sidewalk repair and replacement, road paving and repair, and landfill decommissioning.
  • Kinistino will receive $93,998 in funding for their bulk water filling station.
  • Porcupine Plain is purchasing a truck, undergoing community hall upgrades, replacing sidewalks, and working on ball diamond washrooms, and will receive $123,894 in MEEP funding.
  • St. Brieux will get $95,867 for road upgrades, drainage and flood mitigation, and road resurfacing and drainage improvements.
  • Star City is due to receive $55,623 for the replacement of old hydrants and valves, and a new office server.
  • The Village of Codette will purchase a tractor with their $28,458.
  • The Village of Drake will receive $28,314 for their Community Service Centre, and a lawnmower.
  • Projects in the Village of Muenster include town signage, the purchase of a fire department water tanker, drainage assessment, sidewalk work, cultural banner hardware, and a seasonal lighting display, for a total of $61,803.
  • Pilger will undergo a water treatment plant electrical upgrade, a lagoon valve repair, and dust control for streets to a total of $9,342.
  • The Village of Smeaton will receive $26,159 for the demolition of municipal buildings, and the recreation park.
  • The Village of St. Gregor will upgrade streets and purchase a mower, and will receive $13,942 in funding.
  • The Village of Weekes will get $5,749 for water treatment plant upgrades.

The province said in their news release that all MEEP 2020 funding must be used by municipalities by March 31, 2022.
