Nipawin Museum Living Again

Nipawin museum closing out shortened season with Show and Shine and Labour Day event

The Nipawin Living Forestry Museum’s season is nearly three months shorter than usual due to the coronavirus pandemic, but its staff is aiming to close out the final few weeks strong.

On Sunday, Aug. 23, the museum will host its second annual Show and Shine, followed by a thrashing demonstration on Labour Day. This comes after the museum lost out on some of its larger sources of income, including Canada Day, school tours, and American tourists visiting.

Chuck Low, vice president of the Nipawin Living Forestry Museum, is happy to have the Show and Shine run again in 2020. Not only because the museum had 35 car owners participate but also given the context of the pandemic.

“We’re very lucky to be able to put it on,” Low said. “We will have sanitizing stations around the area, and we have lots of room. We won’t be crowded at all.”

Low said the museum being spread out over four acres of land will encourage social distancing. Masks won’t be mandatory during the events, but visitors can wear them if they chose to. Entrance fees are $5 for both events and hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
