Sweet Cup Cafe in Tisdale reopening as Collective Soul Society

Sep 2, 2020 | 11:52 AM

The Sweet Cup Cafe in Tisdale will look a little different in the coming weeks.

Owner Andrea Lutz shut the doors in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic which gave her the opportunity to set her sights elsewhere.

Lutz was able to mentor with a card reader and became an intuitive card reader herself.

“I really started doing a lot of self-awareness work and focusing on myself and my priorities,” Lutz said. “I ended up really embracing a spiritualistic lifestyle.”

With that, the Sweet Cup space is currently being transformed into a spiritual wellness centre, and will be called the Collective Soul Society when the doors open on Sept. 15.

“I have always been really focused on connection with people and with community and that is something that I always tried doing with my business at the Sweet Cup,” Lutz said. “I want to still use my space in a positive way to serve the community and create those connections.”

Her passion for community connection was made evident in last fall’s Women Evolution Conference or WeCon event that brought women of all walks of life together for a weekend of connection and taking time for themselves.

The coffee bar will be revived and still used within the space and Lutz will also work with nutritionist Amy Kapeller to bring in a health food line.

Kapeller who is a pre-kindergarten educator, a board-certified functional nutritionist, holistic health coach, and yoga teacher, will also be offering an after-school kids’ program, called Magic Minds Kids Program.

“It is just an amazing way for us to help young kids build a healthy, strong foundation, physically, mentally, and emotionally,” Lutz said. “It’s about building healthier, more resilient and self-aware children.”

On Tuesday and Thursdays, yoga programs will be facilitated by Shelley Enns of Shells Fitness and Soul Centre in Carrot River.

Yoga programs will include rise and shine yoga, yoga flow, parent and tot yoga, restorative yoga, kids and teen yoga.

On non-yoga days which will be Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, the coffee bar will be open for certain hours.

Lutz will also be doing her card readings out of the space.

“I’m always looking to promote connection in the community with people, with themselves, and with others,” Lutz said.

The Sweet Cup Cafe was actually put up for sale in November and Lutz already had one foot out of the door when it came to the coffee shop business.

“I honestly had no idea that it would take the turn that it did because I went through a big transformation during that COVID shutdown,” Lutz said. “I look at this as a huge gift and I’m excited to share it with everyone.”

She added feedback on the Collective Soul Society announcement has been amazing and people seem to be very excited as well.

“There really is no hub… or welcoming space for people to come and that’s where I saw this opportunity,” Lutz said.

More programs will be added as time goes on that will include adult’s art therapy, and mindfulness and meditation classes.
