Mustangs, Hawks recognized in SJHL Virtual Showcase
The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) has released its rosters for the SJHL Virtual Showcase simulation taking place on Friday, Jan. 29 and 30 on Twitch.
The Melfort Mustangs and Nipawin Hawks were well represented on the four rosters with nine players from Melfort and eight from Nipawin over two teams that represent the province’s north teams. Mustangs second-year forward Ben Tkachuk is one of those players and he joined Jamie Neugebauer and Rory McGouran on SJ @ Noon on Monday, Jan. 25.
“We’ll see if my virtual player decides to show up,” Tkachuk joked on the show. “But we’ll see what happens. I’m looking forward to watching.”
Tkachuk is joined by teammates, forwards Cameron Rimstad, and Ty Albrecht. Goaltender Joel Favreau will also represent Melfort on that squad. The Nipawin Hawks have four players on the Global Ag Risk Solutions roster; forward Carson Dobson, defencemen, Liam Bell and Evan Bortis, and goaltender Chase Hamm will all see their virtual selves in the tournament.
