Canada’s Farm Show in Regina goes virtual

MELFORT, Sask. — A large farm show held in Regina, Sask. will return this year but under a virtual platform.

The Regina Exhibition Association Limited (REAL) and the Canada’s Farm Show advisory board decided Canada’s Farm Show (CFS) in 2021 will be back but under the new format.

CFS was not held in 2020 due to concerns surrounding large gathering during the COVID-19 pandemic.

REAL president and CEO Time Reid said several of their events were cancelled last year.

“After seeing so many in our industry, including ourselves, having to adjust to this new normal, the advisory committee decided we could go ahead with Canada’s Farm Show in an adjusted capacity, recognizing the show’s importance within the ag industry,” Reid said in a news release.

The two-day virtual event, to be held Jun. 16 and 17 and will feature keynote speakers, panel discussions, the innovation show and the Ag Tech Challenge. The first day will focus on innovation and the state of the industry, while the second day will revolve around international trade and export.

Speakers will include former Prime Minister Stephen Harper, former Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall, financier, and author Conrad Black and agrologist, agriculture consultant and entrepreneur, Robert Saik.

Canada’s Farm Show Advisory Committee chair Jeff Cockwill said the show is adjusting to the world we are in right now.

“It was important to adapt and make the necessary changes to ensure we could still be a place for industry players to connect, a forum for meaningful dialogue and a showcase for innovation,” Cockwill said.

The full detailed schedule will be released in the coming weeks.

The two-day event is free for all those who register.
