Ken Campbell Sales in Melfort closing after nearly 40 years in the community

After nearly 40 years in the community, Ken Campbell Sales in Melfort is closing.

Owners Ken and Grace Campbell made the decision to retire after they both had milestone birthdays this year.

Manager Kendra Campbell told northeastNOW the Campbell’s moved to their current yard site in 1974.

“It was in 1982 when Ken started buying and selling vehicles from this location,” Kendra said. “Two years later, he built the shop with a service bay where Doug, Ken’s brother was the mechanic for over 30 years.”

The detail shop was added shortly after the mechanic shop and has been going strong ever since, Kendra said.

“We are officially finished selling our inventory, but we do have a few days here finishing up some detail jobs so our last day will be Nov. 10,” Kendra said.

A few odds and ends such as parts that are left are still for sale ahead of the closing date.

Unfortunately, the longtime business in the city won’t be having a closing and retirement party due to the COVID-19 pandemic and being unsure of what to do to actually to celebrate.

“We will likely just have a staff luncheon,” Kendra said. “We would have loved to open up the shop up and had a nice big party but we won’t do that right now.”

The Campbell’s want to thank the community for their loyal support over the years and for their dedicated staff.

“At the end of the day the best compliment we can have is that we will be missed,” Kendra said.
