Brennan Hall steps down as administrator, maintains position with Outback Thunder

Dec 1, 2021 | 9:37 AM

At a special meeting of Carrot River Town Council held on Nov. 29, council accepted the resignation of administrator Brennan Hall with his last office day being Dec. 30.

Hall first started with the town in April of 2020 in a part-time role and worked his way up to administrator in February of this year.

The council of the Town of Carrot River will work closely with Hall in his final five weeks to recruit a new administrator, with hopes of having a successor in place prior to Hall’s departure.

In a press release sent to northeastnow, Carrot River Mayor Roman Charko thanked Hall for his service to the community for almost two years and wished him the best in his future endeavours.

“We know our town has had a lot of change in the last two years,” says Charko. “Change is okay, and it will happen. People come and go in every field of work and that is life. We wish (Hall) the best and we look forward to recruiting a new administrator and hiring the best available candidate to help us continue our vision for the Town of Carrot River in 2022 and beyond.”

Mayor Charko also liked to assure the residents of Carrot River that the town is still on track for a great future and that council does not plan on changing its vision for the community.

When speaking to northeastnow about his departure, Hall said this job just wasn’t made for him and that he felt it was his duty to find the person whose job it is.

“It just wasn’t the right fit for me,” he said. “I’ve done it for a bit and realized it’s just not a position I see myself doing as a long-term career. Instead of dragging myself and the town along, which I thought wasn’t the best for either party, I explored other options and found something and I’m going to try it.”

Hall was also quick to point out he won’t be leaving Carrot River, as he is still the general manager of the Outback Thunder.

“For me, that’s huge. Really, the Thunder is what brought me out here in the first place. It’s the first job I held out in this area, dating back to 2019. When I graduated and moved out here, I can attribute that all to the Thunder. They’re the reasons why I’m out here and I’ll hold onto that as long as I can.”

Hall also made sure he thanked those who have helped him along the way and got him to the point where he is today.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity and I can’t thank everyone who’s got me to this point enough,” he said. “The council was great to work with. It’s unfortunate it doesn’t work out but that is life and when you’re young, you have to go through a few different things to figure out where you really want to be and this is one stop on the helm of me figuring where I want to be with my life. It was a great experience and I’m very grateful for it.”

Hall will commute to Nipawin for his new job come next year.
