Two people arrested following drug bust in Archerwill

A man wanted by Tisdale RCMP was one of two people arrested following a drug bust in the Village of Archerwill.

Last Wednesday, Greenwater RCMP, the RCMP Crime Reduction Team (CRT) and Warrant Enforcement Suppression Team (WEST) searched a home in the Village, south of Tisdale. Police carried out the search warrant after discovering evidence of drug trafficking at the home.

The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety’s Safer Neighbourhoods and Communities Investigation Unit also helped with this investigation.

Following the search, officers found 15 grams of meth, 20 tabs of LSD OxyContin and other assorted pills, syringes with suspected illicit drugs, an illegally modified firearm and ammunition, a conducted energy weapon, machete, butterfly knife and other weapons and a sum of cash.

As a result of the search, Rudi Betthel, 54, from Bjorkdale was arrested and charged with possession of meth, failure to comply with release order condition, and possession of the proceeds of crime.

Betthel had previously been sought by police after a home in Bjorkdale was searched on March 16. At that time police found meth, hydromorphone pills, cash and a prohibited firearm at the home.

RCMP also arrested Holly Schweitzer, 38, or Archerwill. She faces several charges including possessing cannabis for selling, unlicensed possession of a prohibited weapon, and possession of drugs for trafficking.

“This investigation is an example of excellent collaboration between the local RCMP detachment and our specialized Saskatchewan RCMP teams,” said Insp. Glenn Church, with the Saskatchewan RCMP Saskatchewan Enforcement Response Team (SERT). “It demonstrates to those thinking they can introduce these dangerous goods into our communities that we won’t tolerate it.”

Betthel will make his first court appearance Wednesday morning in Saskatoon while Schweitzer will appear that same day in court in Rose Valley.
