The defending champ earned his first win of the 2022 chuckwagon season at Poundmaker Cree Nation.

Meadow Lake’s Logan Gorst was the aggregate winner of the second event for the Canadian Professional Chuckwagon Association this summer. Gorst ran a combined total of 2:37:95, almost half a second over runner up Danny Ringuette, after the first two days of competition were rained out.

His best day was on Friday, where he had the quickest time at 1:16:56, more than a second faster than the other drivers.

Ringuette had a win of his own, taking the Dash for Cash on Sunday.

Meadow Lake had another driver perform in Poundmaker, with DJ King finishing third. Luke Tournier of Duck Lake finished fourth.

After two weeks of chuckwagon racing, Gorst has a narrow three-point lead of Todd Baptiste of Red Pheasant Cree Nation at 233 points. Ringuette sits five points back and St. Walburg’s Jamie Laboucane is now 12 points back of the lead after a poor showing on Saturday.

Next for the CPCA is a trip to Alberta. Wainwright will host three days of racing with the action kicking off at 5:10 p.m. Friday and Saturday evening and 2:10 p.m. on Sunday. For Canada Day weekend, Onion Lake Cree Nation will host a five-day event, where races begin at 6:30 p.m.
