Mustangs return from break refreshed, ready for Bruins
The Melfort Mustangs return from a nine-day break on Friday, looking to get back into the win column as they head south for a pair of games against the Estevan Bruins.
Mustangs Captain Ben Tkachuk said it was nice to be able to take a break from hockey for a bit.
“Hit the reset button, spend some time with friends and family,” he said. “It’s good to get away from the game for a little bit. But we’re excited to go down to Estevan and hopefully come away with four points.”
Melfort is coming off a 2-1 loss to the Flin Flon Bombers back on Nov. 2 and also fell 4-1 to the La Ronge Ice Wolves a few days earlier. Prior to that, the Mustangs had their first three-game win streak of the year. However, the offense has seemed to have dried up for Melfort, with only two goals for in their last two games. Tkachuk said that was a main key at practice as they prepared for Estevan.
