Tisdale is celebrating two iconic mascots birthdays

Two friendly faces familiar to many in the Tisdale area are about to have a major birthday celebration.

Beeland Co-op and Cornerstone Credit Union are celebrating the 12th birthday of their mascots Cooper and Fat Cat on Wednesday.

But why celebrate a 12th birthday? Marketing and Communications Manager for Beeland Co-op Melissa Christianson said it’s because 12 is significant for those in the Co-op Kids Club.

“Once kids turn 13, they kind of graduate out of the Kids Clubs,” she said. “So Cooper is turning 12.”

With Cooper still being a member of the Kids Club, he will be at the event to meet and take pictures with everyone in attendance.

Not only is Cooper celebrating his birthday, but he is also sharing the day with Fat Cat from Cornerstone Credit Union, who is also turning 12.

Manager of Communications with Cornerstone Credit Union Samantha Keller said Fat Cat’s birthday will also provide a chance for local businesses to partner together.

“We’re always proud to partner with Beeland Co-op,” she said. “Credit Union and Co-op are cooperatives and we love working with other cooperatives in the area.”

Keller explained that these events are a way to celebrate the community and everyone who works to make Tisdale a great place to live.

“Our members come first and that is what Cornerstone is very proud to do.”

The event will take place at the Tisdale Curling Rink from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
