Buckberger recognized again; Hawks hit highway to Kindersley
Fresh off a Hawks win over Notre Dame and another two-point performance from Ronan Buckberger the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) named the Saskatoon product the player of the week on Monday.
The honour is the second weekly award for the Ohio State committed defenceman. Nipawin Head Coach and General Manager Tad Kozun said having the 17-year-old in black-and-gold is exciting for both the team and league.
“It’s a lot of fun to be part of it,” Kozun said of his start rookie defenceman. “I know we’re one stop on his journey but it’s truly an honour to be a part of it and we’re going to help him any way we can.”
Coming off a revengeful 6-1 win over the Hounds on Sunday, after a loss in Notre Dame and another versus Flin Flon Tuesday, Kozun was happy with the bounce back effort, plus the play of Alex Bernauer and Artem Hrabovetskyi who both scored in their Nipawin debuts.
