Murder charge laid in death of Melfort woman

A man allegedly responsible for the death of his long-time partner, is facing a charge of second degree murder.

Cody Chubey, 35, appeared Monday morning at Melfort Provincial Court. He was subsequently remanded to April 4.

On Sunday morning, at approximately 4:45 a.m., RCMP received a report of a disturbance at a business in Melfort.

Officers immediately responded and their investigation determined an altercation occurred between a man and a woman.

Danielle Dobersheck, 30, was injured and declared deceased at the scene by EMS.

According to her social media page, she was living in Melfort at the time of her death but has connections to Prince Albert and La Ronge.

She also indicated she was in a relationship with Chubey, however a close friend revealed to northeastNOW they had recently broken up and were no longer living together.

“They were re-kindling their relationship,” the friend explained, adding the two had been together over 10 years..

Funeral arrangements have not yet been finalized.
