A trio of hockey players split between three northeast SJHL clubs have been named players of the week.

Starting off, Melfort Mustangs’ netminder Luke McKechnie is the SaskTel Goalie of the Week. McKechnie played two games, taking down some of the league’s better teams, the Flin Flon Bombers and the Weyburn Red Wings.

Over the two contests, one of which went to overtime, the 19-year-old allowed just three goals total. His stats read a 1.44 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage. A Lumsden, Sask. native, he currently leads all goalies in goals-against average at 1.65, and is on a four-start win streak.

Next up was SaskLotteries Forward of the Week, Brock Evans.

Evans, a new Nipawin Hawk this season, put up a large eight points in just two games this past week, five of which came in an 11-2 beatdown of the La Ronge Ice Wolves.

Overall, the 20-year-old had three goals and five assists during the two-game stretch and is currently on a league-long 10-game point streak.

Finally, Humboldt native and Broncos goaltender Brady Holtvogt is the Canterra Seeds Saskatchewan Player of the Week.
