NESD and others affected by teacher sanctions in coming week
Teacher sanctions will continue into next week.
There will be a province-wide withdrawal of extracurricular activities across the province from Monday, Mar. 25 to Thursday, Mar. 28.
“For weeks we have made it clear that job action would escalate if government continued its refusal to negotiate or agree to binding arbitration on class size and complexity – the issue that is most important to teachers,” Teachers Federation President Samantha Becotte said in a news release. “The withdrawal of extracurricular activities during the four days leading up to spring break demonstrates that teachers remain steadfast in their call for sustainable funding for prekindergarten to Grade 12 education.”
Becotte said in the release that the union knows the importance of extracurricular activities in the lives of students and teachers.
