Nipawin passes budget

Nipawin budget shows 5% tax increase for 2024

Mar 26, 2024 | 4:00 PM

The Town of Nipawin has passed its 2024 municipal budget.

Council approved the budget at Monday’s council meeting.

Residents will have to dig a little deeper to pay their property taxes this year, with an average five per cent tax increase on the books.

The town said in a news release that a “significant portion of the budget has been allocated towards infrastructure projects including road maintenance and upgrading utility services to ensure reliability and resilience.”

The release said the budget was “created to address the diverse needs of our town, while maintaining fiscal accountability.”

Another major project for the town this year is the decommissioning of a portion of the landfill, and the installation of a scale, new equipment, and a new office building at the landfill.

Several upgrades to the Nipawin Evergreen Centre are also in the works, including renovations and infrastructure improvements.

A multi-sport court and lighting will be installed in Central Park, creating what the town is calling a gathering place for all ages.
