An evening of resilience and gratitude

Dahlgren returning to Humboldt for community thank you

Nov 4, 2026 | 3:05 PM

A member of the 2017/18 Humboldt Broncos is coming back to Humboldt to acknowledge and say thank you to the community.

Kaleb Dahlgren will be at the Elgar Petersen Arena on Sunday, Nov. 22, to share his journey following the Broncos’ afternoon clash against the Flin Flon Bombers.

“I’ve always wanted to give a big thanks to Humboldt. I know I when I wrote my book, I thanked them as well, but I think coming in person and sharing my story and connecting with people in the community one on one, I think is even more special. Being able to be involved in the community in a full capacity was also something I really wanted to do, and it just worked out great timing-wise,” Dahlgren told northeastNOW.

“I’m just excited to connect with people. The whole goal is just to bring the community together, to give thanks, to share the journey, and to let people know they can pursue the life that they wish, and that with the support of people in their life, they’re able to achieve anything that they put their mind to.”

Dahlgren also plans to do a bit of a book signing, and is hoping to leave some time after his speech for some Q & A.

Through all Dahlgren’s been through, he’s had many chances to reflect, and just wants to share his message and perspective.

“I realized that we could die tomorrow, and I’m just fortunate to still be here, and I want to make the most of it while I’m here. I want guys to go out there and play like it’s their last game because no one knows what the future holds. You could have a career-ending injury or other stuff could happen, so go out there, have fun, play it like it’s your last, and make sure that the person beside you, you’re playing for them as well,” Dahlgren added.

“Thank the people who brought you to that place too. I think that lots of times when we’re in pursuit of excellence in any aspect of life, we are so hyper focused that we forget sometimes about the people around us that helped us get there. Having that gratitude and appreciation helps elevate you as well, and it can be a motivator to continue to succeed and continue to put your best foot forward.”

Dahlgren’s speech is an admission by donation event, with funds supporting Futuristic Industries and the Humboldt and Area Team for Type One Diabetes Research.

He also encourages everyone to make it out to enjoy the Broncos hockey game as well, as he’ll be at the rink all day.
