Local Dancers bring home top Overall Mark from Moose Jaw Dance Competition

The Melfort Dance Centre recently attended the Moose Jaw Carnival dance competition.

MDC submitted 68 entries with children ranging in ages from 7-17.

The Melfort Dance Centre students came home with multiple medals, awards and scholarships including winning the top overall mark of the competition for their Advanced Contemporary group.

The group entitled “Time” received a mark of 95.1. “Time” was choreographed by MDC instructor Courtney Chupa and danced by Hailey Armstrong, Harper Blevins, Avery Davidson, Julia Enge, Alexa Ferguson, Marli Fettis, Daelyn Fouillard, Nora Friesen, Grace Haidey, Avery Hinrichsen, Callie Johnstone, Breelyn March, Camryn McDermid, Graisyn McLean, Jada Nogier, Gracie Romanow, Afton Thornton, Delaney Tluchak, Ava Weber and Morgan Woolsey.

“It was an exciting opportunity for Melfort dancers to attend Moose Jaw Carnival. The students were able to expand their knowledge and appreciation for the varying styles of dance in the province. The competition atmosphere was friendly and fun. The dancers made many special memories with their teammates and with new friends from other dance studios. We are so proud of the hard work our dancers put in to prepare at the studio and for the way they represented the North East in Moose Jaw, both on and off stage,” MDC Director, Jennifer Mauvieux.

On Wednesday, April 10th,The Melfort Dance Centre will hit the road to Prince Albert with 87 entries to attend Prince Albert Festival of Dance.
