Tisdale chapter of 100 Women Who Care getting ready to give back

The 100 Women Who Care initiative is looking to start a chapter in Tisdale.

The organization arrived in Melfort last year and has been very successful, as 100 women in the community chip in $100 each to award $10,000 to a local organization in each quarter of the year.

Tisdale spokesperson Dorthy Folden told northeastNOW that the Melfort group helped inspire women in Tisdale to do the same.

Tisdale chapter leader Donna Hainstock approached Melfort leader Richelle Rogers and decided it would be an amazing idea to start a chapter in Tisdale.

“[Hainstock] then approached several people she thought would be interested in helping and formed a group of women to help get the group started,” Folden explained. “She has been working on putting this together for months and poured a lot of heart into getting this going.”

Folden said every community should have a chapter with a reward that gives back to the community, with $40,000 to be donated to local charities each year.

“It’s great because even if you can’t make the meeting, you just have to send your $100 donation,” said Folden. “So very little commitment and you are also issued a tax receipt for your donations.”

Folden said the local charities positively impact the community and run off donations for fundraising, and having a chance to help the non-profit organizations is important. Even the exposure the non-profits receive from their presentations to the 100 Women Who Care is helpful in reminding people what the charities do in the community.

The 100 Women Who Care Tisdale has a social media page, and residents can access the sign-up form if they’re interested in becoming part of the organization. You can also email wwctisdale@gmail.com.

“We currently have 69 women signed up so [we are] hoping to get that 100 soon and have a waiting list started,” Folden said.

The organization’s first meeting is slated for March 19. Folden said they are hoping to get to 100 women by that point to “start this amazing journey and give back to our community.”

Each woman who signs up can nominate two charities, and there are three non-profits that present their case at each meeting.
