The Nipawin Hawks have found some offence during their southern road swing putting up another seven goals in a win over Estevan on Saturday.

After outscoring Weyburn 7-5 Friday to begin the road trip, the Hawks routed the Bruins 7-2, with the win the Hawks took all four games against Estevan. Konnor Watson added to his four points in Friday’s victory with another goal and an assist in the win. The 18-year-old Spiritwood, Sask. product said the team has come together late and it’s exciting for the young squad.

“It’s pretty fun, it’s always fun winning. It’s way more fun than losing, especially [since] I think we’re coming together the last couple of games. We’ve just been playing our game and getting some goals,” Watson said after the game.

Watson’s line includes centreman Eric Hoiness and winger Mason Karakochuk, who have combined for 16 points in the two games. Watson said the trio has been hard to stop recently and is reaping the rewards.

“We just seem to find each other now and know where each other are going to be. Our chemistry has been here all year, but we are just finally getting the puck in the net now, so it’s good.”

Captain Finley Radloff scored a pair of third period goals, the second straight game the 19-year-old Nipawin, Sask. resident has accomplished that. Carter Anderson scored his team-leading 21st goal in the win, he had one Friday as well. Jack Shirau and Noah Heinrich each chipped in with their second goal of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) season, while Ashton Tait added three assists.

The Hawks are in Notre Dame Sunday afternoon for their final game against the Hounds, who are moving to Warman next season. Watson said the team is getting greedy and will chase the weekend sweep.

“It will be a good feeling for sure, we haven’t swept a trip yet this year. It would be nice if we could get it done tomorrow. I think we can, if we play the way we have been playing we will be fine,” Watson said.

Gage Roberts made 32 stops in the win, marking his eighth of the season.

Sunday’s game starts at 4:30 p.m., and the pregame show of Nipawin Chrysler Dodge Hawks Hockey is on 750 Beach Radio starting at 4:15 p.m.
