Nipawin Fire Department responds to wildfire

The Nipawin Fire Department was called to their first wildfire of the season on Tuesday.

They responded to a fire at a yard site along Highway 35 to Prudens Point.

The department thanked passersby who saw the smoke and alerted the acreage owner, also helping to slow the spread of the fire before firefighters arrived.

The quick action also helped in light of the strong wind Tuesday afternoon.

The call was the Nipawin Fire Department’s 78th of the year, and they ask people to call 9-1-1 if they see smoke or flames.
