For 38 years Modern Flare has been honoured to serve Melfort and the surrounding communities  In the 80’s it was all about the volume and loud hair! From sky-high perms to feathered mullets, hairspray was a necessity. The 90’s, all that needs to be said is the phrase ‘The Rachel’. That signature layered ‘do on Friends, was the look everyone wanted. Frosted tips, butterfly clips, flipped ends, and endless hours with a hair straightener in hand was the trend for 2000’s. 2010’s took experimenting to a new level-bangs, the front bump, and brightly/multi-coloured hair and of course the introduction of ombres. Current trends-the less is more look, the wolf cut, and of course colour! Modern Flare can’t wait to see what the new few years bring for hair innovations and new and exciting products.

Charlene Argent opened Modern Flare with a passion for great hair, and it has since blossomed into lasting relationships, trusted expertise, and a welcoming space where clients feel truly at home. Being named Best Salon in the 2026 BOB Awards speaks volumes about the heart, talent, and dedication behind Modern Flare. Their passion for helping people feel confident, cared for, and celebrated truly makes a meaningful difference in the community.
