More snow and freezing rain in the forecast

Apr 23, 2026 | 4:33 PM

Conditions across the northeast are expected to worsen as the snow we’ve been expecting moves into the region.

A yellow snowfall warning has been issued for the northeast by Environment and Climate Change Canada.

Five to 10 cm of snow is possible tonight, with the potential of freezing rain.

The Nipawin area is also under an orange freezing rain warning for Thursday night.

Meanwhile, two to four centimetres of snow is expected tonight in the Humboldt area, along with wind gusts up to 60 km/h.

Highway travel appears to be getting worse as well as the evening approaches, with snowy, slushy, and icy conditions reported in some areas.

As of late Thursday afternoon, travel was not recommended on most highways in the Prince Albert area.

Expect more of the same tomorrow, as upwards of 10 centimetres is in the forecast for the Northeast and central areas.

Earlier Thursday, the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency held a press conference to update the public on how they are supporting communities with localized flooding throughout the province.
