New RCMP detachment Sergeant in Tisdale

Apr 28, 2026 | 5:57 PM

The Tisdale RCMP detachment is under new leadership.

Sgt. Seth Gouw comes to the community with over 13 years of service, having worked throughout Saskatchewan and Alberta.

“I just want to get the detachment back to where it was – fully staffed and members trained, because if members are at work, then we can keep the community safe. Also, just continuing to build those community relationships with the town and the other communities we serve, and just working on public safety and kind of open communication with everybody,” he told northeastNOW.

“This position had been vacant for a little while; there was a lot of coming and going, and just with the timing of everything, there were fewer members here. Now, we’re just about full staff, and we have another member coming from Alberta the first week of June, so that’s going to be great for us.”

While this is Gouw’s first official posting as detachment sergeant, he has experience in the role, having served in an acting capacity in Alberta.

“Obviously, there’s a steep learning curve, and it’s different than what I’ve done. When you’re actually in the role, there’s a lot more to it that you don’t always get to see, but I do like the opportunity. I like the challenge and just getting to learn new things, especially at this point in my career, where I was already kind of getting used to and wanting some of those more management opportunities,” Gouw added.

“Now, to be given a detachment command, it’s been a great experience, I’m happy, it’s definitely been a great move, and I’m just excited for the upcoming years… the community has been very welcoming, and my family feels right at home.”
