Man charged after firearm incident at Shoal Lake Cree Nation

A man faces charges after a firearm incident on Shoal Lake Cree Nation Monday night. 

Carrot River RCMP received a report of a man pointing a gun at people outside a home on Shoal Lake Cree Nation. 

No injuries were reported, and when officers got to the scene, the suspect had entered the house. 

Carrot River RCMP, with assistance from Nipawin RCMP and the RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team, searched the home. 

The man was located and arrested, and a firearm was seized.

Mikey Bear, 24, of Shoal Lake Cree Nation faces nine charges, including assault with a weapon and uttering threats. 

He will make his first appearance in Melfort Provincial Court this (Wednesday) morning.
