Provincial Traffic Safety Fund Grants given to local communities

Several local communities have received Provincial Traffic Safety Fund Grants through the Government of Saskatchewan and SGI. 

The Town of Carrot River received $42,603 for accessible sidewalk crossings for vulnerable users. At Cumberland House Cree Nation, $16,393 was dedicated to the Nations’ Way traffic safety initiative. 

The Rhona Lake Development Area received $18,589 for nighttime visibility and pedestrian safety improvements. The Town of Kinistino was earmarked for $24,412 to go toward pedestrian crosswalk systems. The Village of Smeaton speed awareness project received $9,424. 

In all, nearly $1.7 million was given for 67 projects from Jan. 1 to June 30 of this year. The program was first established in 2019, and over 1,000 projects have received $18.4 million in funding during that time.
