Kristian Coombs commits to Carleton Ravens
A former Melfort Mustang is joining the U Sports ranks. Goaltender Kristian Coombs has committed to the Carleton University Ravens.
Coombs is coming off his first season with the University of New Hampshire Wildcats in NCAA Division one.
“I wanted to go somewhere where I’d have a better opportunity to be the starter, so that’s kind of why I chose to go the U Sports route. I also liked Ottawa; it’s a really nice city, and they have a good setup on campus. My mom used to go to Carleton as well, so she was a big factor in my decision too. She really enjoyed her time there, so I thought that I should kind of carry the torch,” he told northeastNOW.
“I want to help my team win games, no matter what that is. I think we have a strong group this year; we have a lot of freshmen, and we have another D-1 transfer guy, so it’ll be interesting to see how it plays out. I just want to help contribute to winning; that’s my main goal, so whether that’s being in the net or just being on the bench, helping the guys get energy. I’m just hoping that we can win a couple of games and then see what we can do in the playoffs.”
