Pair sentenced after serious assault in Nipawin

A man and woman charged after a break-in and assault in Nipawin have been sentenced to jail. 

The assault happened in May of 2025 at a home in Nipawin. 

Scott McKay of Red Earth Cree Nation and Noreen Head from Nipawin broke into the home and assaulted two women inside. 

One was taken by STARS to Saskatoon with serious injuries, the other to local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

McKay was sentenced to just under eight years in jail, with a DNA order and a firearm prohibition, while Head will serve about seven-and-a-half years behind bars.
