Hawks begin in Flin Flon, Broncos to host Hounds for season-opener

The 2024/25 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League schedule was released earlier this week, as it’s been determined when and where all 12 teams will play their 56 regular season games.

For the Nipawin Hawks, in particular, they will play the first game of the season as they’ll begin their season opener in Manitoba against the Flin Flon Bombers.

That game will commence an hour earlier than usual for Hawks’ fans, due to the time difference. It will be played on opening night, which is set for Sept. 20.

Nipawin will return home the very next night to host the La Ronge Ice Wolves for their home opener.

The Hawks will conclude their 2024 portion of the regular season with a divisional-rival home-and-home set against the Melfort Mustangs on Dec. 20 and 21 respectively.

Then, to begin 2025, they will do the same thing with the Battlefords North Stars, on Jan. 4 and 5 respectively.

To conclude their 56-game schedule, Nipawin will host the Humboldt Broncos on Mar. 14.

As for those Humboldt Broncos, they will start their season a day later than most, as they’re one of only two teams not to play on the Friday.

They will instead begin their season at home, on Sept. 21, when they host the Notre Dame Hounds.

Humboldt will follow that up with a trip to Wilcox the very next day to wrap up their opening weekend.

To finish off 2024, the Broncos will be in Estevan for a pair of weekend games against the Bruins, which will go on Dec. 20 and 21.

They’ll then be right back on the horse to begin 2025, as they start with three consecutive games in Humboldt, the first against the Kindersley Klippers, with two against the Bombers to follow.

Those matchups will be Saturday, Jan. 4, Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th.

As previously mentioned, the Green and Gold will then travel on the final day of the season to visit the Cage.
