Mustangs pick up former Swift Current Bronco

Sep 27, 2024 | 5:00 PM

The Melfort Mustangs have added some serious veteran experience to their blueline.

Melfort has picked up defenceman Zach Turner from the Swift Current Broncos.

The 2004-born Manitoba product played just two games with Swift Current this season.

He did, however, suit up a combined 48 times with the Broncos last year, accumulating four goals and 11 assists for 15 points.

Prior to that, the native of Boissevain, MB played parts of three seasons with the Brandon Wheat Kings, where he was in the lineup on 65 different occasions.

All in all, Turner has 115 games of experience in the Western Hockey League, as he now shifts to the Junior A level for the first time in his career.

He is with Blue and Green on their southern swing this weekend and is in the lineup tonight, against the Estevan Bruins.

The Mustangs welcomed Turner to the organization on their Facebook page.

“His experience and high level of character will make him a great addition to the team,” the club’s statement read.
