Here are your Green Party candidates for local constituencies

The provincial election is next Monday, but Election Week starts on Tuesday as residents get their first chance to vote in-person.

The Saskatchewan Green Party is running a full slate of candidates. The northeastNOW newsroom reached out to all local candidates multiple times but did not receive responses prior to publication. These are their Green Party profiles.

Tristan St. Germain is running in the Melfort constituency.

St. Germain has lived in Melfort for seven years and has family here, including a four-year-old daughter.

St. Germain attended École St. Anne French immersion elementary school in Prince Albert and graduated from Carlton Comprehensive High School. He currently works on farms, in construction, and fighting wildfires.

St. Germain has volunteered for Kids Fest in Prince Albert and through a retirement facility’s visiting program. He said he believes in giving back to the community as local quality of life is important to him.

Gillian Halyk is the Green Party candidate for the Kelvington/Wadena riding.

Halyk grew up in Tuffnell and now lives in Foam Lake. She studied animal science and ag business at the University of Saskatchewan, and now works as a massage therapist after a stint as an Animal Protection Officer with the provincial SPCA. Halyk said in her profile she helps her parents manage their cattle herd and is slowly growing her own.

Halyk said it’s important to stand up for the environment, and “is living her candidacy for the sake of the ranchers of tomorrow.”

The Green candidate for Humboldt-Watrous is Sharon Thiebault.

Thiebault lives at Manitou Beach and said she believes in community service and cooperation.

Thiebault has had several different career paths, including steam plant engineer, janitorial manager, building operations, and property manager. She has also volunteered for organizations like the local Lions club, and for arts events in the Manitou Beach area. Thiebault also established the Sunrise Babysitting Exchange, which has 150 members and is in its fourth decade of operation.

Liam Becker is the Green Party candidate for Carrot River Valley.
