Man facing drug charges following arrest

A 44-year-old man has been charged after police found drugs in a vehicle in Star City.

Melfort RCMP were called to a home in Star City Dec. 6 after an unknown vehicle was parked in a homeowner’s driveway.

Police found a man sleeping in the driver’s seat, and say the man was known to them.

The man was arrested on multiple unrelated outstanding warrants, and during the arrest officers found illicit drugs, evidence of drug trafficking, and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.

Cory Birtles of the Melfort/Naicam area was charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a weapon, and two counts of failing to comply with release order conditions.
