New rescue vehicle for Kelvington Mobile Health Services

Kelvington Mobile Health Services have a new vehicle to help for remote patient care.

The All-Terrain Rescue Unit allows the EMS service to attend emergencies in remote locations any time of the year.

“For many years, Kelvington MHL has utilized a two-passenger snowmobile and tow behind rescue toboggan for remote location access and patient care,” the EMS service said on their social media page. “This tandem has served us well and will likely still see use in the years to come.”

However, a snowmobile would not be as useful for year-round emergencies, something the new AR60 “A-Tru Argo” can do.

The AR60 “utilizes [eight] wheels and a track for maneuvering over snow, mud, sand and even water,” the social media post said. The vehicle floats and can cross bodies of water, even with some added weight.

The unit is also equipped with a side loading stretcher and features space for an attendant to treat a patient comfortably, with space for an additional passenger if needed. The AR60 also features forward-facing LED emergency lighting, along with a front-mounted winch and rear hitch should anything need to be towed. There is also a heater to assist in cold-weather situations.

“The goal is that we will never need to use this unit, however if and when we may need it, we will be glad to have it available,” the post said.

Kelvington MHL added on their social media site that the new machine will help in Kelvington and other local communities should assistance be required. In the future, they hope to include a 90-degree rotation of the stretcher to a rear-loading style like a normal ambulance, and a canopy cover for a sheltered workspace and help the heater warm any patients.
