MTACC hires McComber as Executive Director

Feb 11, 2025 | 4:00 PM

The Melfort Trade Alliance Chamber of Commerce (MTACC) has filled its vacant Executive Director position.

Lorana McComber has been named to the position following the departure of Cal Gratton last August.

Chamber president Lloyd Muntain told northeastNOW that McComber is heavily involved in the community on many committees and boards, including the North Central Health Care Foundation.

He said she is a vibrant, excited individual with many contacts.

“A Melfort root woman who has seen our past and looking forward to challenging herself as she builds Melfort as the shopping centre of Saskatchewan,” Muntain said.

As executive director, McComber will be the go-to person at the Chamber for Melfort businesses and non-profit organizations. Muntain said she will let the community know about available grants, will host networking meetings, help find volunteers for Chamber fundraisers, and listen for concerns that the Chamber may need to address on a provincial or federal level.

“We as a board were looking for someone that has strong public relations skills,” said Muntain. He said they searched for an individual who was a go-getter and was willing to set high goals for themselves and the Chamber.

Muntain said the organization is set to host a few events in the coming months, including the Mel-Bex Awards March 22, and the annual exhibition parade to name a few.

He added that being part of the Chamber gives local businesses and non-profit organizations a voice to help let the city, MP, and MLA how they stand. According to Muntain, the Chamber can also help research for grant funding that could be a boost for members.

McComber will start in her new job Feb. 17.
