The Melfort Mustangs have climbed one spot in the Canadian Junior Hockey League’s (CJHL) Top 20 ranking.

The Mustangs are now ranked fifth in the nation, after earning five of a possible six points last week.

Melfort opened with a wild 8-6 victory in North Battleford on Tuesday.

The Mustangs lost 4-3 in a shootout at home on Friday but bounced back with a 4-3 victory at the Elgar Petersen Arena on Saturday.

Melfort is now 40-7-0-1 on the season, and they will open a home-and-home series with the Flin Flon Bombers at the Palace Friday night.

The Bombers are ranked number 13 in Canada, and they trail the Mustangs by nine points in the standings.

Melfort has one game in hand and eight games remaining in the regular season.
