Red Earth Cree Nation bear mace incident leads to arrest

A 25-year-old man faces charges after a bear mace incident at a home on Red Earth Cree Nation.

Carrot River RCMP were called to the home Sunday afternoon and found the suspect.

He extended a can of bear mace outside a window, spraying it at the officers.

The officers weren’t impacted by the spray, and later arrested Rushawn Whitecap of Red Earth, who faces five charges and was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for an assault in November.
